Google, is booming out its Gemini AI Chatbot, allowing kids under 13 to use this AI platform. Moreover, the usage will be available for parent-managed accounts. Meaning, children can easily access Gemini AI through Google’s Family Link, wherein parents monitor their kids' online activities.
Further, they can set screen time limits, manage app usage, and more. To get started with the account, parents need to enter their child’s name and date of birth. That’s it!
Google Focusing on Kid’s Security
Google has mentioned that whenever kids log in to Gemini on their devices, parents get notified regarding the same. They have the whole and sole right to disable the accounts as well. Karl Ryan Google’s spokesperson stated during the announcement that, for young minds, Gemini has guardrails, and it won’t utilize that particular data for training it’s AI.
Will Gemini AI be a Good Side for Kids?
The Gemini AI chatbot is designed specifically for children to perform their educational tasks such as helping out with homework, answering questions, curating images and more. Thus, kids must make appropriate use of Gemini AI to enhance their knowledge and clear doubts. The rollout, which will be available on the Web, Android, and iOS, is scheduled for next week.
This stands as a major step by Google, in making AI tools available and accessible to young and active minds. Without compromising on security and trust, Google aims to provide kids with innovative learning technology under parent’s supervision. Indeed, it’s a wonderful step up!
