Google has recently rolled out a new experimental feature in Search Console that offers site owners a complete view of how their websites and social channels perform in Google Search. This significant addition enhances the Search Console Insights report by adding performance data for automatically detected social profiles, including YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.
As stated by Google during the announcement, “Today, we’re excited to announce a new experiment in Google Search Console that offers site owners a unified view of their Google Search performance across their websites and social channels.”
Google also focused on the update's purpose, stating, “With this update, we are expanding the Search Console insights report to include performance data not only for your website, but also for some of your social channels.”
Key Performance Metrics Introduced in the New Social Channels
Here are the new features with all the valuable metrics for every connected social channel, including:
Total Reach: It includes total clicks and impressions that drive users to search for their social profiles on Google.
Content Performance: A list of all the best-performing social media pages and signs of which pages are trending in a good position or down.
Search Queries: Insights into top and trending queries that lead users to your social content.
Audience Location: Countries that generate the highest clicks to your social channels and Google Search.
Additional Traffic Search: Traffic coming from the Image Search, News, Discover Google Search.
However, this new feature is currently in an experimental rollout, meaning not all websites will have access to it. This feature will be visible to sites and channels that Google has automatically identified and related to a property.
Users which are included in the test will get a prompt in the insights report to review and add the detected social channels. At this moment, there is no manual channel addition available.
The tech giant Google hopes unified reporting will help brands and creators to better known cross-platform visibility and search-driven engagement. As this stands as an early experiment, Google invites feedback through the interface and community channels to shape future enhancements.
