WhatsApp Is Working on a Reminder Feature So You Don’t Leave Messages Unread

WhatsApp, the most popular and go-to messaging platform, is here with exciting news for all users. Let the guessing game begin! We all receive messages on WhatsApp daily from friends, family, business, and more.

Do you ever forget to reply to an important text that you think you will do later due to some urgent work? Well, it happens mostly! To help you quickly remind yourself of a message or status update you’ve missed, WhatsApp is testing a great reminder feature! The feature is available for Beta testers on Android and aims to reduce the chances of missing any important message in personal or group chats.

According to WABetaInfo, the new feature enables users to set up a reminder for messages, essentially an alert that prompts the user to revisit the message at the specified time. So, the essential messages don’t get lost in an ongoing conversation.

How Does the Message Reminder Feature Work?

Long-press on any message, and tap “Remind me.” Choose between 2 hours, 8 hours, or 24 hours, making it easier to set an alert. Alongside, users can also set custom timings according to their convenience or work schedule.

After the reminder is set, the message displays a small bell icon in the corner, which you can easily spot during an ongoing conversation. When the scheduled reminder time arrives, WhatsApp shares a dedicated notification with the complete message details, including the full text message, a preview of the content (if it's an image, video, or GIF), and further information on which chat the reminder originated.

WABetaInfo initially noticed the reminder feature through the Google Play Beta Program for Android 2.25.21.14 version.

Alongside speaking about privacy concerns, the reminders remain entirely private for users. Others in your chat will not know if a reminder has been set. This way, WhatsApp is raising the bar of excellence in putting users' privacy and everything perfectly.

The notification reminder for the chat messages feature is now available for beta testers and will be live for all users in the coming weeks. If you need to go for the Beta version, download the WhatsApp Beta version on Android.

Lastly, the new feature seems remarkable and unique, which would surely be beneficial to users, where skipping important texts would not be the case in the future.
