Anthropic is now expanding Claude AI with new connectors that link the AI chatbot to the tools you use every day. The tech giant aims to make work easier by integrating various services into a single place. As per Anthropic’s statement, “We’ve found that people often connect multiple apps and use them together in a single conversation with Claude.”
What are Claude Connectors?
The platform can now connect services such as Audible, Spotify, Uber, Booking.com, AllTrails, TurboTax, Resy, and TripAdvisor, with many more integrations coming in the near future.
These connectors allow Claude to access user accounts, retrieve information, and perform actions such as booking reservations, ordering groceries, planning travel, and more. All of these appear in conversations without switching the apps. For example, Claude can help plan a hiking trip using AllTrails and then automatically suggest a matching Spotify song for this journey.
How do these Connectors Boost Productivity While Staying Privacy-Focused?
Connectors have come a long way since 2005. Claude's directory has a vast pool of 200 connectors, covering apps for health, finance, design, and more.
Even though Claude suggests that connectors can recommend relevant apps based on context, it still requires user confirmation before completing sensitive actions such as purchasing or making bookings. Alongside, as confirmed by Anthropic, the connector data is not used to train its AI model and can be disconnected at any time.
One noteworthy point is that Claude is ad-free, and it will remain in that way. There will be no ad placements between the conversations. Connectors are now available for all Claude users in the beta phase.
