Google is rolling out Gemini Personal Intelligence globally on Android Auto and for cars with Google built in the coming months. This update aims to make Gemini more useful for drivers, so they can speak naturally to get more work done while driving.
Personal Intelligence with Gemini provides tailored responses and makes Gemini most helpful on the road, when drivers are busy. With driver permission, Personal Intelligence connects information from Google services you already use, like Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Maps, Google Photos, YouTube, and Search.
Gemini Comes with the Solution
For example, drivers heading to the airport can ask for their gate and current flight status. Gemini finds their confirmation email so that they can check for delays. Alongside this, Gemini can recommend personalized picks at any time, for example, if they are looking for dinner in an unfamiliar town. It can suggest a restaurant along the route that matches their preferences.
Similarly, users can ask for directions to a doctor’s appointment. They don't need to remember the street address. Another feature is that Gemini can use previous conversations you left off or return to places discussed earlier. The main goal is to minimize the need to interact with your phone manually while driving.
Personal Intelligence with Privacy at Its Core
Google has designed Personal Intelligence with privacy at the forefront. The feature is also completely optional, and you can turn it on or off at any time in your Gemini settings. In cars with Google built-in, personalized responses are available when the user's phone is connected. Drivers who don't enable Personal Intelligence can still use features like navigation, making calls, asking questions, or listening to music, but the answers won't be personalized.
Personal Intelligence is starting to roll out for Android Auto and, in the coming months, on cars with Google built in. The new update reflects Google's initiative to offer hands-free personal AI assistance, helping drivers access relevant information while keeping control of their connected data.
